If There Is a God

Rebecca Myers

What is God?

If there is a God as in the books and the bibles and the scriptures,

then He does not love me.

For if God truly loved people, He would not make them feel pain for acts they did not commit.

If God truly loved people, He would not test Eve with the fruit of knowledge.

If God truly loved people, He would not punish me for her sin every month.

If God loved the things He created, He would have stopped us from destroying them.

And if God wished to stop these evils but could not, than I must conclude God is not omnipotent.

But to be a God is to be omnipotent,

and to be omnipotent is to be a God.

Therefore God does not love me.

But then, why am I told God loves me?

If there is a God as in the books and the bibles and the scriptures,

and He does not love me,

then God's only mercy on this earth is the sky.

For if God does not love its people, but the people believe he has love for them,

than he must have granted us some mercy.

I have never seen the same sky twice.

No sky I’ve seen has been without wonder and beauty.

The sky has never charged me for such a privllage as looking at its beauty.

There is no other beauty in this world that has not been changed by human hands.

There is no other thing that does not charge for such a privilege as looking at its beauty.

Therefore the sky is God’s only mercy.

But then, why does God need to give me a mercy?

If there is a God as in the books and the bibles and the scriptures,

and He does not love me,

and His only mercy on this earth is the sky,

then God has no power over me.

For if God had power over me, He would not need to give me a mercy.

If God had power over me, He would not need to make me believe he loved me.

If God had power over me, I would not have to read the books and the bibles and the scriptures.

And if I could not read the books and the bibles and the scriptures,

that say there is a God,

then I would not know of a God to worship and so would not.

And if I do read the books and the bibles and the scriptures,

that say there is a God,

I can chose not to believe what they tell me and not worship God.

Therefore God has no power over me.

If God has no power over me, then why do we call him God?

If there is a god as in the books and the bibles and the scriptures,

and he does not love me,

and his only mercy on this earth is the sky,

and he has no power over me,

then he has no power over anything.

For if god has no power over me than he must have no power over anything.

And if god has no power over anything than he is not omnipotent.

And if god is not omnipotent then he is no God
