A Letter To My Hero

I am new to this. 

I do not know how to have heroes.

I do not know how to take your words to my heart,

And yet I still remember them 

When worse words are spoken. 

My heroes are poets,

voices,

Powerful.

My heroes are places, 

performances,

memories I can’t afford to lose. 

My heroes are human, 

just like me.

They take their chances, 

the same way I take mine.
